Pastor Kagiwada on Sabbatical
Pastor Tetsuo began the remaining two months of his sabbatical this week.
He is currently in Japan where he will, among a number of things, be visiting Kiyoto Kato's family.
Pray that his sabbatical will be one of refreshment and of listening to the Lord,
and that it would also be a blessing for his family.
Also pray for the Nichigobu leadership as they oversee ministry concerns in his absence

Machida Short Term Mission Team
SFVHC will be sending a short-term mission team to Machida, Japan from November 24 - December 9. We will be putting on a Christmas party for the senior church members and their unsaved spouses. We'll be assisting in putting on the children's Christmas party for the J.O.Y. Club students, the Evergreen kids and their families. We may also have the opportunity to teach English classes to some J.O,Y, Club mothers. There will be an informational meeting NEXT Sunday, September 21, 1:00 p.m. in the large modular.
If you are intersted in joining this team, please attend this meeting or contact Diane Date

Parents of Junior & Senior High Schoolers
Please join our Youth Ministry staff on Friday, September 26, 7:30 PM at church
For Parents' Meeting Night. We would like you to:
1) Meet the Side by Side and Lamplighter staff (and other parents!)
2) Hear about the vision and upcoming plans for youth ministry
3) Voice any concerns you may have
4) Learn how you can partner with the staff
The Side by Siders and Lamplighters will be meeting separately with other adult volunteers
so your students should come that night as usual.

Are You Great With Kids?
Here's your opportunity to be involved with the SFVHC Rescue Ministry.
The first and second Sunday of every month we host the homeless people in the SFVHC.
We feed them a hot meal and then they spend the night in Howe Hall along with the Rescue Mission personnel. The 15-30 guests, including children, arrive around 6:15pm.
Our volunteers are finished for the evening at approximately 7:30pm.
Kurt Wegner is in charge of the kids' ministry and currently he is serving alone.
This has been difficult at times and we are asking for additional volunteers.
We would like to have one more male and two female volunteers.
This way we can have two teams with a male and female on each team and each team will serve only once a month. Please pray about this and if you are led, please contact Kurt Wegner, Lynne Yonemoto or Tom & Lynda Kira. God bless you.

Opportunities To Serve:
Want to get involved at church but don’t know how or where to start?
Consider the following:
1. Join the church clean-up crew. It requires no special skills and people of all ages may participate! It’s a good way to meet others from church too!
Questions or to sign up, see Lynda Kira.

2. We need one more volunteer for Sunday School (Kid Venture) administration

Administrators help to get supplies and props together
for Sunday School teachers and shepherds.
Questions or to sign up, see Lynda Kira.

3. Join the coffee hour ministry team.
Help serve the goodies between services.
Questions or to sign up, see Grace Yokomizo.

THANK YOU for answering the call for winter clothing for the Rescue Center ministry. We have plenty of warm clothing to offer out guests now, but because of lack of storage space, please do not bring anymore clothes to church. You may call the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission to schedule a pick-up of your usable items. (1-800-417-5678)
